O daughters of Jerusalem!
In today’s sphere,
Why seek ye love?
Aimed to nuptial bliss
When thy number
Are but young and tender,
Deceiving men,
Camouflaged in a kiss.

Is wedlock fun fair?
Mislead by chimes and jingle bells;
Or tales of happy ever after
Which are but fairy and laughter.
Please daughters of today and next
Do not awaken love when not yet its time.
